The use of media in the 21st Century continues to evolve. What worked in the past with black and white print is now in color with pictures and illustrations. People read less and watch more broadcast and cable media. The use of the Internet is growing significantly. All of these changes suggest an adaptation of the presentation media and mode from the past. Internet streaming video, DVDs, and CDs with highly condensed video presentations of study results are in greater demand. By scripting and filming the results in a manner desired by the client, there is more control on content. Opponents have more difficulty in twisting facts or spinning their side of the story. Video products can be used to broadcast results of a study, spearhead a public participation program, or market an airport or service. CDs or DVDs containing a video report can be sent to stakeholders for particular projects. In short, the use of video technology is perhaps the most effective means of disseminating information that a client can employ.
R.A. Wiedemann & Associates has produced studio production quality videos and PowerPoint slide shows that highlight the study findings in a favorable light. These can be used at area high schools, civic clubs, and community action groups to help educate future airport “friends” as to the benefits of airport operation and improvement. Afterwards, these videos can be placed on local Internet web sites for streaming video, or in the video sections of local libraries for loan to the public. This process is key to the development of a support base for the local airport.
