R.A. Wiedemann & Associates, Inc. was selected to perform an Airport Business Plan for Denton Municipal Airport. At the time, the Airport was in transition from a relatively quiet general aviation airport to a significant training and corporate aviation center.

In the past four years leading up to the study, activity at the Airport had tripled, thanks in part to international flight training operations that have located at the facility.

A major aviation refurbishment and interior completion FBO (Jet Works) located at the facility provided interior completions for the Italian aircraft manufacturer, Piaggio. In addition to these developments, gas wells were being drilled on Airport property, creating additional revenues of more than $1.5 million annually.

The challenge for the consulting team was to develop a strategic plan to wisely use the gas well revenues, suggest a new brand that encompassed the Airport’s future direction, and plan for the best use of the aeronautical and non-aeronautical property on the facility.
