R.A. Wiedemann & Associates, Inc. was selected to perform an Airport Business Plan for Massena International Airport in 2011. The business plan assessed potential means to improve the Airport’s financial performance, economic development, and operation.

The plan focused on several components, including the Airport’s location near the Canadian border in northern New York, the benefits of attracting Canadian business for aviation and non-aviation development, the development of tourism associated with sport fishing, the attraction of business via low energy costs, and a number of other facility-related issues.

The recommended plan of action from the report contained the following three primary strategic initiatives:

  1. Airport Branding and Marketing
  2. Attraction of Business/Corporate Operators and Expanding Service of Canadian Market
  3. Hangar Development and Activity Growth
